Okay, if you are a mixologist, you might just want to leave now. I’m calling this drink a margarita because there’s tequila involved and it pairs so nicely with my fish tacos I’m dishing out for our cinco de mayo party this weekend.
The grapefruits were so fragrant at the market, I couldn’t resist. As soon as I caught the scent walking past them I knew they would be perfect with some tequila and seltzer. Is this an actual margarita? To me it just needs tequila to be called as such!
It’s just about the easiest “margarita” you’ll ever make. Rim the glass with a wedge of grapefruit, salt the rim, squeeze the grapefruit to fill the bottom little lip of a margarita glass; top with a shot of tequila, a splash of seltzer (might I suggest grapefruit seltzer) and few ice cubes. Garnish with grapefruit. That’s it!
Light and refreshing and without all that sugary sour mix!
Skinny Grapefruit Margaritas
Yield: 1 | Time: 5 minutes
Ingredients:
1 fresh grapefruit
1 oz your favorite tequila
Splash of seltzer (you could also use a grapefruit flavored seltzer)
Margarita Salt
Directions:
Rim the glass with grapefruit, dip in margarita salt.
Squeeze enough grapefruit juice into the bottom of the glass to fill that little bump (probably about 1 oz)
Add your favorite tequila and a splash of seltzer to fill the glass. Add ice and garnish with grapefruit! That’s it!
