style icon: reese witherspoon

reese witherspoon is one of my all time favorite actresses. i really love her movies – they’re feel good. make you laugh. you can watch them over and over again. seriously – does sweet home alabama or legally blonde ever get boring? walk the line? no.

she has also been one of my favorite style icons to watch over the last decade. my style has shifted while hers has too, and every once in a while a little dose of reese is just what i need to shake up some combinations in my own closet.

who are your style icons?

career inspiration: tory burch

i was reading an article on business insider the other day about tory burch and how in less than a decade she built a multi billion dollar business. yes – with a b. not an m.

here are a few things you may not know about ms. burch:

1. she grew up in philly and went to UPENN

2. she has worked for vera wang, ralph lauren and harper’s bazaar

3. she was credited with making t-shirts trendy again in 2005

4. her business took off once oprah endorsed her, saying that tory burch was “the next big thing in fashion”

the take away here? be bold. believe in yourself. take risks. the rest will fall into place.

golden globes 2013

happy awards season! the globes were fantastic last night – tina fey and amy pohler were a match made in heaven (but hey, kristen wiig and will ferrell would be great too, huh?!) and the fashion was spot on. i did not see one star who made me scratch my head (other than giuliana rancic). props to everyone’s stylists last night!

here are my favorites who will certainly inspire my spring choices this year. who is on your best dressed list from the 2013 globes?

pretty in blue:

loved the red we saw, especially jennifer garner’s jewel toned red – completely appropriate for pre-spring and so suiting to her age and style. i also loved marion cotillard’s shorter dress – definitely something you don’t see all the time on a red carpet such as the globes:

ladies in white also rocked it – loved julianne hough’s hair!

and finally ladies in black! katherine mcphee was a sex bomb, adele looked sophisticated, olivia munn youthful with a pop of turquoise and sophia vargara looked amazing (happy to see her in something other than a mermaid dress thanks to a new stylist):

style files: winter white

a question i pose to all of you: do you wear winter white? i really do love the color – it’s so elegant, timeless, classic. just look at the duchess in it! (i know, i’m 100% obsessed with her, sorry)

i think it’s a particularly fantastic color for brunettes – they really do just glow! here’s some more winter white inspiration to tickle your fancy! will you try the color combo or is it already a winter must-have for you?
