bootie weather is finally upon us! well for me at least, because i tend to not wear booties until it’s cold enough for long sweaters. this season i’m all about stocking up on a neutral pair of booties with a shorter heel. it’s a little more casual, more comfortable and it will match more outfits than, say, a 5 inch heel will.

one look that has really been growing on me lately is jogging pants. you wouldn’t think they could be chic, but they definitely can. the formula is relatively simple and consistent. jogging pants + sexy pumps + moto jacket. all around, the look is clean, bare; that seems to be the magic behind the chicness of the look.

i have some style icons that never fade for me – like marilyn, audrey and jackie kennedy. each of them a little different, a little similar; each women that i would like to take cues from stylistically and personally.
there is an iconic photo that i’ve always had stuck in my head of jackie kennedy wearing a yellow dress. it’s retro and perfect and elegant in every way. then i found this frock at ann taylor loft and knew i had finally found the dress that would let me channel mrs. kennedy.
i was so excited to receive the jcrew 2013 fall preview in my inbox yesterday. apparently this week is all about prefall/fall favorites. here are some of my favorite looks that i cannot wait to shop my closet for!
zara has always been one of my go-tos when i am looking for something a little edgier than pearls and jcrew. the price point just makes great style accessible to the masses, and i appreciate that in a brand.
here are some of my pre fall favorites from zara today – clearly i’m drawn to ivory and red at the moment. (ps. isn’t that navy patterned dress something you can see kate middleton wearing? (just had to get my obsession in there!))
lusting probably is a more appropriate word. there is something about kate spade shoes that is just irresistible. probably because they fit me perfectly and are so comfortable, and in my opinion worth every dollar. if you know me, you know that i really am obssessed with kate spade shoes and have quite the collection – you, if you know me, would probably tell me my collection is overkill, i say it’s awesome. to each her own, right?
i am totally infatuated with these 4 pairs of ks flats since hurting my legs in crossfit (think shin-splints-turned-leg-fracture) and my heat-wave induced flip flop rocking to the office is just unacceptable. how’d you like that run on sentence?
i have really been in to clutches lately. i think because i would rather switch a bag to match my outfit with minimal effort, and since you can’t fit much into a clutch it fulfills said requirement. also, they can be relatively inexpensive – enter my 6 must-have clutches. i must say, the obsession probably has to do something with my unhealthy infatuation with kate middleton. i just can’t lie to you.

with the impending heat wave, i cannot fathom wearing anything other than shorts, dresses and skirts and lightweight sleeveless tops. here are my favorite outfits i’ll be recreating this week and a little inspiration for you to stay cool!
part of me was so disturbed when rompers came back on the scene, then the other part of me, which totally dominated the aforementioned is 100% excited rompers are back. i mean, they are SO cute. right? ann taylor loft has fantastic rompers – great patterns and fabrics for a pulled together look for when it’s hotter than hades out.
pair with your favorite pumps and a blazer or a fedora and scarf for an effortless yet pulled together look.
so when it is just unbearably hot what do you wear, besides a bathing suit? and further, what do you wear when it’s hotter than hades to work?! i think i found a little inspiration for the work-side of things with this post, but okay what do you wear when your hair sticks to you and you are dewy all day and still want to look cute?
