how to: wear a midi skirt (or dress)

happy monday, dolls! hope you all had a great weekend. over the past few days i’ve been getting my wardrobe ready for spring, pulling inspiration from various places pinterest and thinking about what trends i am into this year and how i can make what i already own work around those trends.

last year was definitely a maxi dress year, and i’m definitely still all for that silhouette, however, this year is definitely all about midi – midi skirts and midi dresses. prints, solids, chiffon, tulle, jersey – you dream it, it’s out there. here’s the key – if you want to wear flats with your skirt or dress, make sure it’s a tad shorter than the typical midi (mid calf). i love these skirts and dresses with heels.

here are my 2 tips for really making this trend work for you:

1. never wear boots with a midi length anything – it adds a lot of bulk.

2. choose a piece, whether a dress or a skirt, that can be dressed up or dressed down. think about how you would like your skirt with a tank top, chambray, printed blouse, white or gray t, etc. think about a dress with a sweater over it (hello, doubling as a skirt!) or a cardigan. think about it with flip flops, wedges, espadrilles and dressier pumps.

i love asos for midi skirts and dresses – definitely hit them up if you are looking for something at a little lower price point.

so i want to know – will YOU rock this trend?
