French Bread French Toast

Can I just tell you this recipe has been on the list to make for the blog for literally almost 5 years? It’s inspired by the French toast we had on the Tahitian leg of our honeymoon, which will have been 5 years ago come September!

This French toast recipe uses French bread instead of a more transitional bread choice, which is just how we had it on our honeymoon. The combination of vanilla and cinnamon melting into the custardy goodness that soaks into the bread is just a *slice* of heaven.

I’ve actually been wanting to make this for us, but I haven’t gotten around to it because…? No good reason other than, maybe it’s good I haven’t been making this for us for the past five years? It’s just so good.

You’ll start by slicing your loaf of French bread – on a bias if you want to dress it up. Also if you slice on a bias you give yourself more surface for butter and maple syrup so you’re going to want to go ahead and do that, k?

From there, it’s really your traditional French toast! Eggs, milk (I used oat ‘cause it’s all we have right now in quarantine), cinnamon, vanilla, a pinch of salt (always, you know me, but you can leave it out).

Slice up some strawberries and mmmmmm you’ve got yourself one delicious brunch!
